Mature patients who are admitted reside in a separate, 20-bed unit.
During their stay patients are immersed in an intensive therapeutic program that runs from 9 a.m. The majority of the day is filled with group therapy sessions where patients discuss their issues, set goals, and learn coping skills.

Follow up appointments for medication management are provided, as well as support and education for the family.learn more about our assessment services » To make a referral for a patient who is medically cleared and needs inpatient mental health treatment, please contact the Admissions Department at (717) 782-6493 or (866) 746-2496.Pennsylvania Psychiatric Institute (PPI) recognizes these issues and has designed a number of programs specifically mature adults who may be suffering from mental illnesses or psychiatric disorders such as depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety and phobias, schizophrenia, obsessive-compulsive disorder, emotional and behavioral problems, and memory loss.PPI treats these conditions in either Inpatient or Outpatient programs, depending on the specific need of the individual and the severity of symptoms.Medication management and compliance, as well as illness education and relapse prevention are important components of the inpatient program.Therapies and services offered through the Mature Adult Inpatient Psychiatric Program include: Each of our staff members work with each patient in order to support and prepare him or her to move to a less structured environment.
